KINGS OF MACEDON. Alexander III ‘the Great’, 336-323 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 27 mm, 16.77 g, 1 h), Mesembria, circa 250-175. Head of Herakles to right, wearing lion skin headdress. Rev. ΒΑΣΙΛΕΩΣ - AΛEΞANΔPOY Zeus seated left on low throne, holding long scepter in his left hand and eagle standing right with closed wings in his right; in inner left field, Corinthian helmet above monogram of ΠA. Price 992. Beautifully toned and of fine style. Two minor scrapes on the reverse, otherwise, good very fine.
